Secrets To Save This Black Friday
Everyone knows the biggest day for the best shopping deals
is the day after Thanksgiving! Black Friday has become an unofficial holiday
for smart shoppers looking to save on holiday gifts. If you’re one of those smart shoppers, you’re
in luck because we have a few secrets to help
you in your hunt for the best deals this year.
Be Prepared
Many stores give early bird Black Friday ads to customers on
their email list. Check out your favorite stores online and subscribe to their e-mail list so you can start finding the
deals before the stores open!
Get Bonus Discounts
If you get a thrill from shopping at the crack of dawn, you
will love the rewards that may come with it. Many stores do giveaways to those
who are in line to shop on Black Friday. Last year, Sports Authority gave the
first 80 customers to walk in gift cards worth up to $500.
Split Up
It’s fun to shop with family and friends, but with so many
deals and so little time you can play it smart by dividing up the shopping.
Compare your lists with your closest pals, and split up the stores and items!
Stay Within Your Budget
Make a list of what you need and a set budget on what you
have to spend. Make sure you stay
strict to the list and don’t purchase items you don’t need. Sometimes it’s the things that aren’t on the
list that blow your budget.

Your Teeth Will Be Thanking You This Thanksgiving
It’s pretty safe to say the words Thanksgiving
and Healthy don’t pair up when you think about the delicious foods flowing around
the table on Turkey Day. But, believe it or not, you’ll have reason to
feel less guilty when you indulge in the feast this season because of the
benefits some of these traditional foods will have on your teeth.
At Apple Tree Orthodontics, we want you to know you
can now be extra thankful for turkey and pumpkin pie!
Turkey
Not only is turkey the main attraction at the
table on Thanksgiving Day, but it benefits your body and teeth in several ways
due to the high protein content. Protein helps build strong bones and healthy
teeth; just another reason to keep smiling!
Pumpkin
Not only are pumpkins decorative and delicious,
but they’re filled with magnesium too! Magnesium is a nutrient known for
strengthening teeth. Also, pumpkin pulp is a good source of Vitamin A,
potassium, and fiber, all which help build enamel.
So when it’s time to sink your teeth into your
holiday meal, go ahead and grab a big helping of turkey and an extra slice of
pumpkin pie, as these are great foods in achieving a healthy smile.

Halloween Safety Tips
Halloween is a day away and we know everyone is ready to dress up and head out. Here at Apple Tree Orthodontics we care about not only your teeth, but your safety. There are a few tips from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Costume Safety:
- Costumes should short and not drag in order to prevent tripping or falling
- If you wear a mask make sure it is secure
- Costume accessories should be soft and flexible for safety
- Make sure you have a flashlight
- Make sure your goodies bag is secure
- Trick or Treat in groups
- Young children should be accompanied by adults
- Let children know to always stay on the sidewalk
- Beware if passing cars
- Always use crosswalk when crossing the street
- Children should only go to homes where the lights are on outside
- Never enter a home, unless accompanied by an adult
- Make sure children know all treats need to be inspected by adults before eating
Remember there’s going to be candy everywhere and we want to make sure that our patients are enjoy the Halloween spirit, but are also protecting their oral health. We want to remind our patients who are under orthodontic treatment certain foods like caramel, taffy and hard-candies should be avoided. Have fun!

The Clear Choice
Making the decision to undergo orthodontic treatment is the first choice, choosing which appliance to use is the second. One of the most popular choices today is the clear choice, Invisalign.
Deciding to undergo orthodontic treatment to straighten your teeth not only affects your appearance, but your lifestyle as well. For adults undergoing treatment this is an important decision. People tend to associate traditional braces with children and young adults. This stigma deters many adults from seeking orthodontic treatment. Invisalign provides the most flexible option for adults. Invisalign are clear aligners that provide a high level of discretion. Invisalign alignment trays are created from molds of your teeth giving you custom aligners. Unlike other braces, Invisalign aligners are removable. You can take out the aligners when necessary, which makes Invisalign a flexible option.
Benefits of Invisalign:
• Easy removal
• Allows for easy brushing a flossing like normal
• No food restrictions (you can remove your aligners to eat)
• Can remove aligners for physical activity
• No brackets and wires to worry about
• Invisalign are practically invisible to the naked eye
There are many question patients have about Invisalign, here at the top 3 frequently asked question and we have the answers.
How often must I wear my aligners?
You must wear your aligners for up to 22 hours daily. You may remove them for eating, drinking and regular oral hygiene.
Is there any discomfort with Invisalign treatment?
There will be some pressure and minor discomfort for a day or two after each initial insertion. This is a sign that your teeth are moving sequentially into their final position.
Does Invisalign work for kids?
Yes, if their teeth, including second molars, have grown in completely.
To ensure the best possible results, only an orthodontist who has been trained and certified by Align Technology can diagnose and treat using Invisalign. Our doctors are trained and can determine if this treatment is an effective option for you. We currently have special promotion for National Orthodontic Health Month you can receive $400 OFF Invisalign Treatment! Call us if your interested or if you know anyone else that may be interested in Invisalign Treatment.

October is for Orthodontics
Every year, the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recognizes October as a time to raise awareness of the benefits of orthodontic treatment.
If you have never been to an orthodontist before, you might not know what to expect. Meeting with Dr. Patricia Timmeny and Dr. Rachel Polgrean, is a great way to find out what kind of people you’ll be seeing during your treatment. This is also a time to get your questions answered and to learn more about what an orthodontist can do for you and your family.
In a month full of sweet treats, it’s more important than ever to be mindful of your braces and/or your orthodontic appliances. Try to avoid hard and sticky candy. If you can’t keep yourself away from the sugar, choose soft candies that melt-in-your-mouth.
As always, remember to brush and floss after eating sugary foods. Exposing your teeth to sweets increases your risk for cavities…and allowing sugar to sit on your teeth can lead to decalcification (permanent white discoloration of the teeth).
If you have any questions about what foods are best during orthodontic treatment, feel free to ask during your next visit!
We look forward to seeing you and your family this October!
